Member Post: Ok so everyone says "if you get in trouble, ask for help" but hey who does. Do the mental health services really think were going to pick up the phone and say to a complete stranger, "hey guess what im in crisis" the whole idea behind human fight and flight which goes back centuries says, never ever let your guard down to another animal or you may be eaten. So how to do they expect us to do this ?  I know in the past 2 years that I have had a diagnosis of bipolar disorder, then they changed their minds to something else, just prior to being admitted for self harm I rang Cornwall mental health services, I asked for help and the center manager told me that I was making her life difficult and actually put the phone down on me at 5 minutes to 5 just prior to the phones switching over to Out of Hours.  By the Monday I had an ambulance round due to drug overdose whilst drinking heavily.  I hadn't touched a drop all that day on Friday until I plucked up the courage to ask for help and was turned down.  My phone call to Pydar Street in Truro and Bodmin hospital resulted directly in my getting so upset that I smashed myself in the face with a hammer and did the same to my hand.

So is it any wonder that we dont "ask for help" but what is the solution ?  I think blogs like this need to be posted, people "OUT THERE" need to hear this stuff and if you are continuously let down by the Mental Health services, You MUST remember it is NOT your fault, they are understaffed and have become so de-personalised like robots that they just dont function anymore.

You are not alone, and it is not your fault. DO not let abandonment issues be the result of an NHS service. Its not personal. Yes it can be dangerous for them to offer a half cocked service but there is some great help out there:
