Depression v Happiness ~ The greater your Storm the Brighter your rainbow. I believe that every Down has an Up and every Up has a Down. So we need to remember this, sit with it, hang on by our bare teeth if necessary and wait hang on till it passes. Ask for help and remember you are NOT ALONE. Depression is the same as a broken engine in a car, it just needs time to rest and recuperate and then its up and running again. Addiction & Self Medicating ~ Many people living with Mental health disorders subject themselves to large amounts of a toxic substance called Alcohol in an effort to try to control their symptoms and behaviour's. Alcohol is not the answe, it is a DEPRESSANT and it will worsen any Distorted thinking / Paranoia / Feelings of Low Self Worth and feelings of helplessness, etc.
The first drink may 'appear' to help but with any Addictive substance your tolerance increases and you need more to do what the first one did until you end up with Alcohol Toxins permanently in your system. Therefore it is not a healthy way to help Manage any mental health disorder. Positive thinking, Self education, Exercise, Healthy diet and Medication are all better ways of management and it is very well documented that Alcohol is NOT!
